TID BITS FROM THE ULTRA NEWS: How a Champion trains for a 100 mile race.

Because someone asked what Leigh Schmitts training looked like..
Leigh has set records all over New England... he is the REAL DEAL... he also
currently holds the VT100 Course record at just over 14 hours.
Here is what he said about his training:
"'Depends on the week... and the time of year. If I'm coming off a very tough race
like the Peak Ultra (man, I was in a fog for a few days!), I might run 20-25
miles. Most weeks, I hover around 40-60 miles. A real good training week
might peak me out around 65 or so. I'm not a volume guy, but instead focus
on quality and time. It's also tough for me to calculate trail miles, too.
And lastly, I cross-train a lot. I like to get in the pool at least 2-3
times per week."
